Fallout 1 and 2

Postby Blood_River on Fri Oct 23, 2009 10:25 am

Just wondering if anyone's played the other Fallout games. I myself have played Fallout 1, but never finished it. Although, I did enjoy the game. I personally found the dialogue to be very well written, along with with the surprisingly well done voice acting(though only the core characters had voice actors).

Fallout 1 is MAGNIFICENT. The combat may be a bit boring (It's comparable to a chess match or a D&D Session), but the story blasts away everything, except Planescape: Torment, which is DIVINE.

And yeah, the voice acting is pretty awesome too, I especially remember Ol' Harold (A ghoul from 'the hub', the most important city in the area) telling me about his life. Ever tried creating a character with less then 4 intelligence (so 3,2,1)? THe game gets quite funny that way, although very hard to complete.

I bought fallout 1 & 2 cheap from play.com and havent looked much into them since my time goes in F3.

I should use time to try them out to maby again learn some more background stuff related to the fallout.

Seen videos from youtube from both of them so i am egor to try them out, hope i get time soon.

So if you got some good storys from your old days in the fallout world i wil gladely hear them.

Does F3 Wastland reminds you of the old fallout games, like you get the good old feeling and kinda know places that you visited in the old games.

"Old days"? That's an understatement. I played Fallout 1 three months ago :P.

The Falllout 3 wasteland doesn't remind me of FO1 much. This is mostly because FO1 takes place in California, which, in game, is an desert (I do not know much about the US, or at all, but I think its a desert nowadays too...). However, it is very nice to explore FO3, which does have a rich enviroment. However, storywise, Fallout 1 is much, much better. It's presentation is better too (Case in point: The voice-acting. Compare Doctor Li to Ol' Harold).

I played fallout when it came out (I am over 30) and became addicted. I think it was better then FO3 in many ways, just the fact that the ammo, not the weapon, decided damage and armor penetration made it better. If FO3 was a 3D version of FO1, I would have had the perfect game.
